This week I found out about the Apple product announcement from a newsPAPER first. That's crazy! I had forgotten what those were for.

What We've Been Up To

All is Well...

Sun, May 23 - ... just a lot busier with a baby! Since February, we've enjoyed a trip to visit friends and family in Vancouver, B.C. (and catch some Olympic spirit!), a trip to Florida including the Keys, Disney World Magic Kingdom and Everglades National Park, and lots of time with family. We'll try to get some new pictures up here of what we've been up to before Naomi turns one...

Naomi's First Week

Naomi's First Week

Wed, Feb 3 - Photos from Naomi's first week: hanging out at home, visits from family, a trip to the ocean, and her first time to church.

Christmas 2009

Christmas 2009

Wed, Feb 3 - Since Naomi was born less than 2 weeks before Christmas, our holiday was a little different this year. But our families were great about adapting plans so we could join in as we were able, and we enjoyed celebrating with both sides of the family at different points, including a trip to the beach.

New Year's: Malabuyo Visit and Joshua Tree Trip

New Year's: Malabuyo Visit and Joshua Tree Trip

Wed, Feb 3 - On New Year's Eve Joe, Jessica, Andy, Oli, and Lem Malabuyo came over to see Naomi. We had a fun time hanging out, and then the next day we headed out to Joshua Tree for a day of rock climbing with Mom, Dad, Andy, Joe, Jessica, Tomoko, and Caeley. Katie was feeling good enough to do a climb only 3 weeks after giving birth. Another highlight was doing some Aussie-style rappelling.

Lake Tahoe Family Vacation at Lake Tahoe

Tue, Nov 3 - Mom & Sher Takahashi planned a fun and relaxing family vacation for their side of the family at the beginning of October at Lake Tahoe. It was a great time to be together, and enjoy the beautiful area. We were surprised by about 6 inches of snow the second morning which added to the fun.

Baby Shower at the Peckhams

Baby Shower at the Peckhams

Mon, Nov 2 - Huge thanks to Mom & Dad and Joe & Jessica who put together a great baby shower for us on Sunday. Instead of keeping it a girls-only event, we made it a party for everyone. It was great to hang out with friends and family to celebrate our baby girl. Thanks to all of you who came, and for the gifts.

Europe Trip Summer 2009 Highlights

Thu, Oct 1 - Highlights from our recent trip to Switzerland, France, and Italy. Check out the photos for more about seeing Annecy and Mont Blanc in France, camping in Cinque Terre along the Italian coast, soaking in Florence, our last-minute trip to Rome, and relaxing at Lake Como.

Climbing Matterhorn Peak

Climbing Matterhorn Peak

Sat, Aug 1 - After Joe's wedding, the rest of the family headed up to Twin Lakes outside Bridgeport for some camping, hiking, and mountain climbing. Andy had picked out the impressive-looking Matterhorn Peak that Andy and I were going to climb (2-day climb). Mom, Dad, and Katie joined us for the first part of the trip (day hike).

Before parting ways, Andy asked Katie if she wanted to join us for the climb, and since she was feeling better than expected (despite being pregnant), she decided to join us. That made the adventure even better since we had 3 people but only 2 ice axes, 2 crampons, 2 sleeping bags, and a 2-man tent. The wooden ice axe that my dad carved for Andy worked fine for him, and he survived the night without a sleeping bag...

Oh, and I just have to mention that my SLR camera mysteriously stopped working as soon as we got to a certain altitude, which was by far the biggest bummer of the whole trip. Thanks to Dad for letting me borrow his point n shoot, which is what most these photos were taken with.
