Katie and I had a brief respite from travel today, so I was able to post some photos from our trip. This only covers some of what we saw the first 3 days.

Katie's step-sister Meghan got married over the weekend. I wasn't the official photographer, but of course that didn't stop me from shooting...

Thanksgiving in Templeton
Thanksgiving in Templeton
We spent Thanksgiving weekend up north in Templeton with Joe, Jessica, and her family. It was good to meet the rest of Jessica's family, and enjoy the beautiful central CA coast. On Friday Katie and I rode our bikes 25 miles from Templeton to Cambria on the coast, where the others met us for some great Tri Tip sandwiches. We checked out the shops in town, and then headed up the coast a bit to San Simeon to see the elephant seals. On Saturday we headed south to Montana De Oro State Park near Morro Bay, and then stopped by San Luis Obispo on our way back. Sunday we drove back south and stopped by the touristy Danish town of Solvang, which we claimed as being Dutch since Joe and I are half Dutch (close enough, I think).

Incredible Halloween Party
Incredible Halloween Party
The Nicks invited us to their place for their annual Halloween Party, which was tons of fun. This was our first time doing anything for Halloween since getting married, and our second time ever dressing up in costumes for something. We made our Incredible costumes from stuff we already had in our closet, plus a couple cheap things from Savers. The "i" badges were paper printouts that we taped to the front of our outfits. Katie formed my incredible chest from a couch pillow, and my lumpy muscles can be attributed to crumpled up ads.

BRIGETTE: HELLO VANESSA
THERE ARE LOTS OF BEACHES IN tALIKUD iSLAND , ONE BEACH I WOULD LIKE TO RECOMMEND TO YOU IS THE ISLA RETA BEACH.
HOPE YOU ENJOY YOU HOLIDAY. MY FAMILY LIVES ON THE TOP OF TALIKUD ISLAND CALLED STA CRUZ, BUT NOW I AM CURRENTLY LIVING IN THE UK.

Katie: This was a trip highlight for me. We talked about how Jesus was probably born in a cave just like this. It was smelly, and there was urine and dirty grease on the walls. It was really, really humbling to realize the Christmas story was actually pretty embarrassing, not warm and fuzzy at all. Mary was so young and her relatives shut her out when she was EXPECTING? Everyone was so concerned with things looking right that they couldn't be open to God being beyond their understanding.

Katie: I'm pretty sure this is Mt Nebo, so this where Moses would have looked out for the first time over the Promised Land.

Erica: This looks like Jesus' wandering for 40 days

Katie: Yup - it would have looked just like this area!

Laura Buck: So typical -- Wyn standing at the top waiting for everyone to catch up! :)

Katie: hah - totally! :)
