Israel Jordan Photos - Highlights from Days 1-3

Israel Jordan Highlights Set 1

Here are some photo highlights covering some of the things we saw on the first three days of our Israel/Jordan study tour. There's much more to share, but I wanted to get some up since we have Internet access at this hotel.

Visit our travel blog for more updates from this trip, or go back to other albums from this trip.

Barb Takahashi: From Sher: Advanced Ropes Course challenging one's skill in column-hopping!

Katie: This is where they believe John the Baptist did a lot of baptizing.

iCalva: Haven't heard of dirt baptism, but I do see my chickens take dirt baths!! Hee hee

Lem: Awesome! Were you able to dig up the Holy Grail?

Simon: Wow, awesome picture!

Christian K.: Woah... I was going to say - "isn't this from indiana jones?!?!" That's amazing that you actually got to see it!

:) Hi by the way.

Erica: I don't think I've seen sheep with such long tails before, not that I've seen a lot of sheep

Erica: This makes me think of Sampson

Erica: Kate, you are so cute!

Janell: "Heeeey! How YOU doin'...?"

Katie: "Cheeeeeese!"

Katie: "Do I have anything in my teeth?" (sounds like something I would say...)

Grandma Nystrom: Ha! Ha! I saw you first. Ha! Ha!

Katie: This was a trip highlight for me. We talked about how Jesus was probably born in a cave just like this. It was smelly, and there was urine and dirty grease on the walls. It was really, really humbling to realize the Christmas story was actually pretty embarrassing, not warm and fuzzy at all. Mary was so young and her relatives shut her out when she was EXPECTING? Everyone was so concerned with things looking right that they couldn't be open to God being beyond their understanding. It's embarrassing to realize that that is how we as humans are, even in the face of Jesus' intensely loving self-abandonment on our behalf.

Katie: I'm pretty sure this is Mt Nebo, so this where Moses would have looked out for the first time over the Promised Land.

Erica: This looks like Jesus' wandering for 40 days

Katie: Yup - it would have looked just like this area!

Laura Buck: So typical -- Wyn standing at the top waiting for everyone to catch up! :)

Katie: hah - totally! :)

Katie: And little Squirt too.
