Eilean Donan simply means "island of Donnán" (named for the Celtic saint, Donnán of Eigg, martyred in 617). It is a 13th century castle, restored in the 1920's. It has made many appearances in film and TV, including: the Cate Blanchett film, "Elizabeth: The Golden Age," the Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones film, "Entrapment," the James Bond film "The World is Not Enough," and the Patrick Dempsey film, "Made of Honor."
